This week the Kindergarten team was busy taking part in the Take Me Outside Day event. There were several events throughout the week that connected to Indigenous knowledge and environmental education led by Indigenous educators. Some of the various activities included live streamed read alouds about taking care of Mother Earth, health and well being yoga sessions, connecting to the land through natural experiences, environmental sing-alongs and the list goes on. Wednesday October 20th was a day to take our learning outdoors by exploring, playing and inquiring about the great outdoors. Kindergarten students took part in nature walks, scavenger hunts and exploring our natural surroundings. Mrs. Cowie’s class even helped our school environment by using buckets and small shovels to add the pebbled stone that has overflowed over time from our climber area back to where it belongs.
Way to go Kindergartens!
